License Plates

I have always been confused by what people put on their license plates, and what in the world they mean, but this is one of the best I have seen:
Not really sure what it means, and I may be a bit childish, but I don't think I would want to drive around with that on my license plate. Just a thought.

Crazy Family

It is always nice to get together with family, but also very crazy. This weekend was my nephew's birthday and my sister from Idaho came down to visit with her 4 children. First just having 5 kids and 5 adults in a house can get a little crazy. But then when all of them except Scott have really boisterous personalities, it gets wild. Scott and I are used to spending a lot of our time just the two of us. It is very calm. Scott's family is very calm. When we do things with them it doesn't usually get too loud and crazy unless we are playing a game. With my family, we were just sitting on the couch visiting both Friday and Saturday evenings and there was PLENTY going on, just that alone was wild and crazy. Saturday was the actual birthday party and Scott and picked up pizza from Brick Oven (yum!) and took that over, while almost everyone else was up playing in the snow. Malachi got loads of presents. We got him clothes, which he couldn't care less about, but the hat we got him, he loves. By the time we got done with eating, opening presents and having ice cream cake it was time for bed. I think it was a good time had by all. It was just nice to go home to our quiet house and go to sleep that night. Somehow it's exhausting to have that much stimulation.

Emotional

I have decided I am a little too emotional these days. I think it has progressively gotten worse since we got married. I used to be one of those people who was annoyed when people would blubber at church or in a movie, but now I am one of them. I now cry in movies where it is not even called for. Yesterday Scott and I were watching some music videos, and I told Scott to look up Brad Paisley's performance on American Idol. He sang his new song "Then." I cried. Then we watched his video for "Waitin on a Woman", and I cried again. Scott just looks at me and laughs or rolls his eyes. He likes to tease me about it. I can't help it. I just feel the emotion of the song or movie. I would actually like to not be such a cry baby all the time, since 9 times out of 10, I am crying over something completely unrelated to my life. Oh the joys of being a woman.

Black & White

Well, since I just changed my background, I have to put in a little note about it. Want to know what my favorite color is? Well, it's purple. Want to know how my kitchen and living room are decorated? In black and white. I absolutely love the black and white combination. I just find it so clean and simple, which is my decorating style. Less is more. I usually throw in just a touch of color here and there. Everything in my kitchen is black and white, but I do have two red walls. Which is a great accent color to black and white. My wedding was black and white, which turned out awesome, with just the accent color of deep purple in my flowers. It was great. I think I like black and white a little too much sometimes, because those are the colors I lean towards in my wardrobe as well, and I am trying to vary it up a bit. It is just so easy to get a nice look from a black and white outfit, and maybe a little gray. I'm probably a little crazy...

Our new addiction

Scott recently decided to purchase this:















And I have to say it has taken up a lot of our free time. We started playing the middle part of last week. We both created our own characters and have been playing tournaments ever since. I am not as good as Scott, but he has also been playing golf games for a lot longer than I have. He has around 3.2 Million in winnings and I have around 28k. Sad huh? If only it were real. We played the game Friday night, I played Saturday morning (after I did my chores of course), and we played Saturday night. Scott played while I was at Pilates yesterday and then after our Monday night shows, he decided he wanted to finish up his tournament. So played on our lap top while he won his tournament. It definitely has become an addiction for both of us, but it is good clean fun. It isn't costing us a lot of money, it's not interfering with our marriage, and we are both entertained. What could be wrong with that?

I read in a story once that the songs you love the most are the ones that come closest to saying how you feel, and this one comes really close. It may not be the exact words, but I am very lucky to have married my best friend.

Things Always Work Out

I just wanted everyone to know, after my breakdown last week, things did get resolved. Work frustrations will always come and go. My BYU frustration turned to excitement on Friday when I realized a golf class will not only keep me as an active student, but will fulfill part of my GE requirements. BYU has health and wellness GE's and golf fits into that category. So, I registered for a golf class and I am going to be taking an online American Heritage class to get going. Online classes are a little bit cheaper per credit too, so that is nice.

This weekend Scott and I went with some friends to the Draper open house. I swear we are one of the last few to go since everyone I know seems to have already gone. It was so nice, and it reminded me that I really need to be attending the temple more! It was really interesting to walk from the temple into the stake center where the refreshments were and see such a huge contrast. I always thought that our churches were nice, but they pale in comparison to the temple. It was almost sad to walk out of the temple after the open house and be able to feel the spirit fade. I turned to Scott and said,"Back to the real world."There is just such a strong spirit in the temple. And the spirit I felt in the open house does not even compare to going through a session. I really need to make time to attend.

Can You Read?

I have decided several people in our complex can't read! This is a little hard to explain, but basically, there are around 25 town homes that share a driveway. There is one narrow strip of blacktop and driveways to our garages on either side. The narrow strip is not wide enough for two cars. Therefore, they put up signs designating one end as entrance only and one as exit only. For some reason, people enjoy driving out the entrance. It is so annoying! This morning as I was pulling out of my driveway, one truck drove by the wrong direction, so I waited. The girl pulling out of the driveway next to me, didn't look to see if anyone was coming from the wrong direction and went ahead a pulled out. She almost got hit by someone that was going the wrong way. I just don't understand why people have a problem with following simple rules. Sure there isn't anyone enforcing it, but common sense and respect for people around you seem to be traits these people don't have. Or maybe they really can't read!

Just One of Those Days

Yesterday was one of those days where you just feel like everything that could go wrong, or everything that you find annoying managed to happen. Ok, not everything, but it felt like it. Work was fine, but it was really frustrating. I was loaded down with things to do, and I have stupid people thinking that their issues are more important than other people's, and I was really far behind on things that should have already been done, but I hadn't had a chance to do yet. I had a stupid lady from an insurance agency calling and asking for information on a past client and she was put out by the fact that was I wasn't going to get it to her that day. Uh, too bad lady. You are not a client, and you are not even affiliated with a current client, you go at the bottom of my long list. I sent over a routine request to add a couple of new clients to our carrier and then had to battle with them on how the policy should be written (I won by the way). And, there were several people who needed info that I didn't have and I couldn't get responses from the people who did to get back to our clients. Just very frustrating. On top of that, our digital document filing system has been out of commission while the IT guy does *updates* on it. It was not able to be used for 3 work days, and then yesterday afternoon we got the go ahead and I can't find any of my old documents. Basically, I can't do my job without being able to find old documents. So there are a bunch of things I am waiting to do because I can't find information I need. Also, on a personal note, I applied to BYU and found out when I was going to register that my Associates of Applied Science doesn't cover the GE requirements a BYU, so I am almost starting over. Brilliant! So then I try to register for some night classes, and basically Spring Term doesn't have any. I did find a couple that started at 5 or 510, but that is not late enough. I was really frustrated with my day, and I did break down and cry for about 2 minutes and I was done. Scott and I watched Ghost Town, which I recommend, and then I read a good book and went to bed. I shouldn't feel sorry for myself, it was just one of those days. We get to have those days every once in a while. I'm sure today will be better.
