I won!

103.5 The Arrow is doing a radio contest called "Delete Your Debt." They have you fax in your bills and then they pick a bill to pay for you. They call out a name and the person has 10 minutes to call. They do this 3 times a day 9am, 11am, and 3pm. I have been trying to listen online faithfully to see if they call my name, but sometimes it doesn't work. This morning at 9:10 I got an email from someone I work with as a vendor saying she heard my name on the radio and wondered what I won. I wasn't even listening!! I forgot to turn on the radio. So I hurried and called in and somehow I made it in time. They said they would pay my Discover bill! My Discover bill was the smallest one I faxed in, but still, I don't have to pay it. Whoohoo! Hooray for someone else paying attention and giving me the heads up!

Pilates

My mom and I used to go to a Pilates Sculpt class faithfully every Monday & Wednesday night. Then I started working four 10-hour days and was not able to go because I got off work too late. Now that my work has switched everyone back to five eight hour days, we decided we could start going again. So we went on Monday. It was tough. I guess I didn't realize how out of Pilates shape I am in. I have still been working out and lifting, so I thought I would be ok. Not so much! I was sore yesterday from head to toe. Today only a few things are sore, but I think my abs will be sore for years to come. They are still killing me today. It is so interesting to realize all the things that you use your abs for because the movement becomes painful. Guess I should start going more faithfully again. Gotta be sore. Firm up the soft spots. :)

My Favorite Lunch

Lunch these days costs way too much. But where can you get lunch for under $5 and have it fill you up? New York Burrito. I love it. It is seriously my favorite place to go for lunch these days. I get a mini wrap, which comes with chips and salsa, all for $3.87. If I get a drink, which I rarely do, its $4.95. And I am full when I finish my lunch. I worked at New York Burrito when I lived in Rexburg, and could eat a regular sized wrap, but now, not so much. A mini is more than enough. It's funny how after working somewhere, you don't eat it for a long time, and then it becomes one of your favorite things. My friend Amy worked there a lot longer than I did, so I wonder how she feels about it. I love it~

Cold Air Blowing

Berfore I do my complaining I have to say, I love the company I work for. The ownership is amazing, they do a lot for us, and I have never had a job I feel as appreciated as I do here.
With that being said. I do not understand why there is cold air gushing out of the vent above my desk in the middle of winter. I freeze to death every day at work. Even in the summer I wear long sleeves because it is so cold. But during the summer I can understand the air conditioning being on. But in the middle of winter? I just don't get it. They have people in here trying to fix it from time to time, but it's always freezing cold. I have a space heater under my desk, but it just doesn't always do it for me. I realize some of you may be thinking, well you are always cold. True, but I am not the only one freezing here. Some people have put up cardboard to direct the vents away from their desk. It just doesn't make sense to me why they can't just turn off the AC in the winter like I do at home. It wastes loads of money to turn on the heat and then turn on the AC, over and over again. I don't get why this can't be fixed. But for some reason I am doomed to freeze at work forever.

This is why I hate the news

So I USED to respect Tom Hanks. He has been married to the same woman for many years, which is rare in the celeb community, and he seems to be respectable and is really an amazing actor. Not so much anymore. The first hit was the HBO series Big Love he produces about polygamists. And now this comment regarding the show and his unprovoked attack on Mormons.
“The truth is this takes place in Utah, the truth is these people are some bizarre offshoot of the Mormon Church, and the truth is a lot of Mormons gave a lot of money to the church to make Prop-8 happen,” he told Tarts. “There are a lot of people who feel that is un-American, and I am one of them. I do not like to see any discrimination codified on any piece of paper, any of the 50 states in America, but here's what happens now. A little bit of light can be shed, and people can see who's responsible, and that can motivate the next go around of our self correcting Constitution, and hopefully we can move forward instead of backwards. So let's have faith in not only the American, but Californian, constitutional process.”
Oh really? Where did you get your information from Mr. Hanks? First of all, no Mormons gave any money to the church to to make Prop-8 happen. Prop-8 was not put together by the church. While the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints did come out in support of Prop-8 because we believe in the sanctity of marriage, the "Mormons" gave their money to the cause itself at their own discretion. The church gave NO money to the cause. Second, I agree with the the response from our church:
'When informed of the "Forrest Gump" star's comments, Kim Farah, a spokesperson for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, told Tarts, "Expressing an opinion in a free and democratic society is as American as it gets."'
As well as this comment:
'Bill McKeever, a rep for the Mormonism Research Ministry, added, "Personally, I find it un-American to tell people that they shouldn’t vote their conscience. Hanks said he doesn’t 'like to see any discrimination codified on any piece of paper.' Considering that just about every law discriminates in some form or another, makes this comment ridiculous. Hanks’ comment shows that he very much believes in discriminating against people with whom he disagrees. I may not agree with Mormon theology, but I certainly defend their right to express their opinion."'
My respect for this man has gone completely out the window. What is "Un-American" is to attack the "Mormons" for standing up for their beliefs. Give me a freaking break. Just because you don't agree doesn't give you the right to publicly attack us when you apparently have no idea what you are talking about! Good job on not discriminating! Get educated before you open your mouth and offend people. The church has come out and said we respect the right for civil unions to get certain rights, but we are trying to protect the sanctity of marriage.

In other news... Barack Obama's inauguration is going to be the most expensive in history. Way to go! Good job on starting out your ten year plan of strengthening our economy. Why not waste loads of money on a party for yourself? The most ever spent. Kudos to our new president, already working so hard in our behalf.

Crazy People On The Road

So this morning on my drive to work, I watched this guy make a u-turn in a contstruction area in his truck and run over a cone. Except he didn't run over the cone, it got hooked onto the front of his truck and he was dragging/pushing it down the road. I passed him, but watched him in my rearview mirror, and I never saw the cone release. I was laughing out loud in my car all by myself. Yup, I have a strange sense of humor.

Our New Toy

Well, here is my blog in behalf of Scott. He asked me last night why I haven't blogged about it yet. The truth is I knew I couldn't blog about it without posting a picture, and I just hadn't gotten around to getting a picture yet.
This is our new truck! It is a 2006 Toyota Tacoma. We had been talking about buying a Tacoma for probably 3 or 4 months, and then we decided to wait till spring, but then Scott got transferred and started making a little bit more money, and we decided we could probably afford it now. Scott's car is getting old and while it is still in terrific shape, he wants to extend the life of it as much as he can. Hence the third vehicle. Don't you be thinking we have three car payments, Scott's car is paid off. Plus it's a lot of fun, and we will no longer have to borrow a truck anytime we need to move something, pick something up, or haul something away that won't fit in one of our civics.
It is a really nice truck with all of the features we wanted, 4-wheel drive, stick shift, 6 cyl, truck liner, access cab. It's in really good shape as well.
Scott really likes the scoop on the front, and the fact that it will get up and go. I wasn't the biggest fan when we were looking at it online, but once I rode in it and saw it in person, I really really like that truck as well. The seats are super comfortable. One of the biggest things that got us to go with the newer body style is the fact that they are a lot more roomy and comfortable on the inside. And it really is. Almost more so than my car. So there you have it. Someday I hope to be able to drive the truck. I have once, but Scott is really excited about, so he has taken it to work the last two days. We have driven it pretty much every where we go together since we bought it as well. I don't know why the pictures turned out like they did, but they make the truck look dirty, and it's not. We just washed it last night.

I found it!

Quite a few years ago, when one of my brother's kids was being blessed (I'm not sure which one), my great grandparents came to the blessing in Washington. Sometime during the weekend I mentioned that I loved my sister's ring and it would be great if I could find one like it. My great grandpa who made jewelry offered to make a duplicate of the ring for me. So, we gave him Tia's ring and he said he would send us the original and the new ring. We didn't think it would really happen. I mean why would he waste his time on something so meaningless? But he did make it and send it to us. It was really sweet of him to do. Now, not only did I have this ring I liked so much, but it was made by my great grandfather, who I adored, and that made it even more special.
Recently he passed away, which of course got me thinking of where the ring was. I started looking for it. It was not in my main jewelry box. I started looking everywhere I may have left it, travel bags, other jewelry boxes, my backpack from school at BYU-I and I couldn't find it anyway. I was really upset, because it was the only thing I had left of him.
This weekend I finally cleaned out the trunk of my car, which had a couple of boxes of my stuff from my parents house (there are still many more to bring out of there). While I was going through everything and throwing stuff away, I was looking through one of my other jewelry boxes, and I found the ring! I was so excited. I usually only wear two rings, my ctr ring and my wedding ring, but now I plan on adding a third ring to wear all the time. I don't want to lose what I have left of my amazingly sweet great grandfather. I miss you and I love you Grandpa Godfrey.

Our New Bedroom!!!

Here it is ladies & gentleman, our new bedroom set. Can you tell I am just slightly excited? I absolutely love it! What sucks is the pictures do not do it justice. You can't see very much of the detail. It is actually very pretty.
We thought maybe the king size bed would dwarf our bedroom, but luckily it is big enough that there is still room to spare. We actually went back and purchased a night stand for Scott's side of the bed as well, and we got it for $99. Sweet. We had it delivered and they actually put the bed together and put everything where we wanted it, so we had to do very little. I love the new comforter set, and I was a little concerned the corresponding sheet set we got for free would not fit, but it did! Scott thinks it will look better with the brown sheet set we bought just in case and I agree. The cream colored sheets just aren't as nice looking with it. But I absolutely love love love it!!!! It is so comfortable. It makes you not want to get out of bed (like I wanted to anyway). Now I just want to paint the walls blue and get some sort of decoration on the walls... they are a little blank. But even with the little bit of work I have to get my room completely decorated, having matching furniture is a huge step in the right direction and I am so happy to have it! We went out with some friends of ours on Saturday night and I had to show it off before we went out. I am just way too excited about it!! What is also exciting, but not nearly as much so, is now our guest bedroom has our old bed, and that will be nicer for anyone who comes to stay with us. We still need to make a couple of changes in there as well, but having a bed in there will be nice. Not that we have a lot of people stay with us, but when we do, it is much better to have a bed and not just an air mattress. So there you go.
On a side note, we had a change in the nursery. Our class of 12 all moved in to primary, and they condensed the nurseries from four to two, and moved us into the younger group. Kinda stinks, we enjoyed being able to play with the kids and communicate with them a little better. But I am sure we will get used to it again. Some of the leaders they put in with the older group are people I know I wouldn't get along with, so it might be good. We have two kids now that we had their older siblings in our last nursery. Wow. People have their kids really close together.

Happy New Year

Scott and I are starting off our new year with a new bedroom set! We have talked about getting a king size bed for quite sometime, and agreed we would get it with our tax returns. But... we saw an ad for 18 months 0 down, 0 interest, so we decided we could put it on my card now, and pay it off when we get our tax returns. We didn't find anything we were really interested at the normal RC Willey, but we did find one we liked at the outlet. The 18 mo deal was over, but I managed to get the sales guy to give us that payment plan plus $200 off our entire purchase because we got the whole set, plus an extra "chest of drawers" as they call it, and the mattress. Now hopefully Scott will be able to sleep at night, with a kind size bed and a mattress that when we tested it, he couldn't feel me move on. So, we bought the bed on Monday, and it is going to be delivered Saturday.
New Years Eve we went and got the bedding for it and ended up spending way more than we planned, but the comforter set came with free matching sheets, so that was a little consolation. I hate that bedding is so expensive, but I am way excited to get our room all put together! It will all match, which will be so nice. We then went home and ordered pizza and watched a movie. After the movie was over, we went to bed. Yes folks, we went to bed at 11 o'clock. It was nice, and as far as I am concerned we missed out on nothing. If we stayed up till midnight we would have said hooray and gone to bed at that point.
New Years Day was really quite fulfilling for us. We went out that morning and got my watch re-sized so I can wear it, then went to pick up some blinds for one of the rooms that still doesn't have any, then to Walmart to pick up some spider spray (side note: for some reason our house has a lot of spiders for being new, we can't figure out where they are coming from, and we couldn't ever find our favorite spider spray, hot shot. It is the the best spider spray ever. When we lived in the apartment, we would see dead spiders around the base boards instead of live ones. While that is disgusting, we knew the spray was working because they were dead. Because we couldn't find the hot shot spider spray we bought something else, and apparently it didn't work because we still see spiders all the time. We finally found it at the Walmart we went to New Years Day and we were stoked, so we bought 6!) Anyway, after our errands we went home and Scott worked on moving part of our bedroom into the guest room and hanging the blinds in there. I worked on taking down the tree, organizing our storage under the stairs and re-arranging our living room to how it used to be. I also folded the dreaded whites that Scott hates to fold and put those away. We got so much done and it felt so good.
I was going to take a before and after picture of our old bedroom vs our new bedroom, but sadly, I forgot to get one before Scott started moving it, so I guess a picture of when we get everything in will have to suffice. I'm sure you are all looking forward to it.
