My Blessings

So, I guess this is kind of belated, but I really enjoyed LDS General Conference this year. I missed Saturday because of the craziness of our weekend, but I recorded the afternoon session and I will be watching it. Sunday was really good tho. I am amazed at President Monson and how different he seems now that he is the prophet. Maybe its partly him and maybe its partly the spirit testifying that he is the a prophet of God that makes the change so obvious. Can you believe he is 81? He definitely doesn't look it, but the Lord sustains his servants! Anyway, in his talk Sunday morning he talked about focusing on the abundance in our lives (can't quote exactly, I will definitely need to read it in the Ensign). I just wanted to take a minute to recognize the abundance in my life and count my blessings. In no particular order:
  • I am so very grateful for my eternal marriage to my amazing husband who takes such good care of me and shows his love for me daily. I am constantly grateful for his presence in my life and how he helps me to grow as a person.
  • I am grateful to have the job I do. No its not my dream job, but its a good job and the I couldn't wish to work for a better company. They are very good to us and you can really tell they care about their employees.
  • I am grateful for my family. My brother and my sisters who I may not always get along with, but have helped shape who I am in subtle ways. And my cute little nieces and nephews that can put a smile on your face so very easily. Also, for my parents and for their support and love through the years.
  • I am grateful for technology. That I can fly to Washington to visit my brother's family in just a couple of hours, and drive to see my sister in a few hours rather than it taking days on a horse drawn carriage. Also, that I can store pictures on my computer, write posts like this, and keep in contact with friends and family in mere seconds via email, phone, text, etc.
  • I am grateful that I can run. I have a love hate relationship with it, but I am grateful that I can do it if I choose. That my body functions and I have no serious physical ailments.
  • I am grateful for flowers, and my talent and ability to do floral design. That I have the creativity to create something even more beautiful out of already beautiful flowers. I am grateful for the training I have had in that area and the experience I have been able to acquire.
  • I am grateful for school and higher education. It is such a pain while you are going (I will be in that boat again in spring), but it is a really useful tool in doing what you want to with your life and achieving your goals and dreams. It is awesome that we have the option to always be learning more and growing intellectually.
  • I am grateful for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, that I am a member of it, and it was restored to the earth. That I can attend every Sunday and be uplifted and grow on the spiritual side of my life. I am grateful for the knowledge I have of God and His Son Jesus Christ and His sacrifice. I am so grateful for the atonement and my knowledge of it, so I can use it in my life.
  • I am grateful for the home I live in and the great community I live in. I, unlike some, actually do enjoy living in a highly mormon populated community. It has its downfalls, but I do enjoy the culture and safety of it. If I am sheltered, so be it.

There are probably so many more things I could be grateful for, but I might be typing all day long...What are you grateful for?
