Scott's Bday
Tuesday was Scott's birthday. I have had very little time to blog lately, and I didn't want to blog about how lame I am anyway. I got him a cookie basket of a dozen chocolate chip cookies and I was planning on refinishing a really expensive putter he bought it not so good shape for cheap. However, when we got the repair form filled out and ready to send in, Scott decided to go with the actual maker of the putter (Titleist), because even though it is much more expensive, it is a better deal overall. They know how to restore it to original condition without instructions since they made it. Plus, they re-shaft it, re-grip it, and include a new head cover. So basically I took Scott to Polar Queen (his favorite) and bought him some cookies. I still have to come up with something else to get. He is not worried about it, but I am. It makes me feel lame that I didn't get him anything good. Guess I will have to get something this weekend! Oh ya, Scott normally does the laundry on Tuesdays and I did that for him too, but I actually found out I don't know how he does the laundry. I did the loads in the wrong order, and forgot fabric softener in the first load. I just haven't done it in so long, and everyone does it different. It felt funny having my husband inform me on how the laundry is done. Good times.

My Birthday
Yesterday was my 25th birthday. It was a really good one. One of my sweet friends at work decorated my cubicle and gave me some of my favorite treats. She even took me to lunch with another of my friends at work, and we had a really good time. It was so nice of here and so unexpected. She is super sweet. The owners of the company gave me a card and a gift card to cinemark, which Scott and I will definitely use. It was a really nice day. My boss even asked if I had plans for lunch and since I did planned a department lunch for my birthday on Monday. Everyone made my birthday really nice. When I got home from work, this was on the door to the garage:
Nice Eh? I was like, ya thanks for reminding me, but then at the top of the stairs was this:
Followed by this on my bedroom door:
Now you know why I think my husband is the best ever right? He had also left an envelope of money on the stairs for taking me shopping, and he bought me a couple of movies that I wanted. We went shopping, but for some reason I can't find much when I actually have money to spend. Then he took me to Olive Garden for dinner. Scott's birthday is on Tuesday, so his parents want to take us out to dinner, and we might do that tonight with my parents as well. We are going to finish shopping today as well. There are so many things I need and am looking for. Which is thrilling for Scott, but he is a good sport. My family party is on Sunday. My fam invited us for dinner and we'll do gifts and stuff then. So the birthday fun isn't quite over. I just need to hurry and get something for Scott by Tuesday. I definitely can't outdo him. He is the sweetest and almost made me cry. But of course, I am also a cry baby. It was such a good birthday tho! I really didn't expect much and I was so surprised! It was awesome!!

Valentine's Day
Yup, I am a little late on this post, but here it goes. Scott actually bought me some new shoes the weekend before Valentine's Day, and told me it was for Valentine's Day, but he had already ordered something else to come. Friday night we went to Texas Roadhouse (my favorite restaurant) for dinner and waited 2 hrs to get seated. That part sucked, but our server was really good, and I very much enjoyed my dinner.
We got back to the house and my delivery was there. It was purple roses (my favorite color). Poor Scott got screwed over again tho. He ordered them from FTD. Usually FTD will send orders out to florists. I got a lot of orders from FTD when I worked at Orem Floral. However, this time they decided to send the flowers in a box via UPS. It was supposed to come with a vase, and it didn't. I feel so bad that every time Scott tries to do something special it doesn't quite work out for him. Luckily, I had a little bit of extra greenery left over from my mom's arrangement and I made it work in a vase that is actually too big for the flowers. For some reason they were cut really short, which is weird since they are the long stem quality of flowers. Either way, Scott had a great idea and he is the greatest. I love him so much.*side note: in the picture it only shows 9 roses, the rest are on the other side, it is a two sided arrangement. Whats funny is there were like 16 roses. Odd.
Saturday, we spent the morning hanging out at the house waiting for something for me to be delivered. I ended up leaving to go pick up flowers I was putting together for my mom from my dad and then came back and my delivery was still not there. Scott checked the status on it, and it said it was going to be delivered on Monday. So we decided to go out. We ended up at the Provo Mall and decided to see Taken. Really good Valentine's movie right? Haha. We enjoyed it very much.
So what did I do for him? Well, I stayed up late Friday night and after he went to sleep I hid notes all over the house saying why I love him. He has found around 30 of the 50. I also made him home made oreo cookies on Saturday night. It was a really nice Valentine's day. We kept it low key, since both of us actually are kind of against the holiday.

He's Just Not That Into You
Scott and I saw this movie over the weekend. I was a little surprised by the seriousness of some parts of the movie. It was sadly extremely realistic in the way men and women interact in the dating scene and things that happen in some marriages. Men and women are so very different in the way we communicate, and for some odd reason, things are sugar coated for women. Our friends will come up with excuses for why a guy didn't call because they don't want to tell you the truth that he probably doesn't like you. But then once you are married, women blame themselves for things that go wrong? Is that not unhealthy or what? No wonder men think women are hard to understand. I really enjoyed it for the most part. I think what it most made me realize is how grateful I am for the amazing man I married. He is a catch for sure. He is the kind of guy that right after we broke up(yes we did have one break up), was willing to drive with me up to Idaho so I could see my neice who was in the hospital after a car accident. He is not the type to sit and watch sports on TV when there is something important that needs to be taken care of, or while I am rushing around cleaning the house. He helps me out a lot. He really tries hard to see past my moodiness and ups and downs and really loves me for me. Curviness and all. I realize life is not going to be perfect and we will have our ups and downs, but wow, I am so happy to be out of the dating world of stupidity and in an eternal marriage with my best friend.

Why I don't like Valentine's Day
All my life I thought I didn't like Valentine's day because I usually didn't have a Valentine right? Wrong. Now I have a permanent Valentine, and I still dislike it. Here are a few reasons why:
- It makes every single person in the world extremely aware that they are single.
- It is just another excuse for retailers to insist you buy CRAP for your sweetheart.
- It becomes a competition between women on which guy is more romantic and jealousy ensues.
- It forces men to be romantic because you are supposed to be romantic on Valentine's day, not because they love their wife/girlfriend and want to romance her.
- Prices for flowers go way up, on the wholesale end and retail end, why? Because that is how you make money. Supply and demand, baby.
- The whole holiday is based around women. What in the heck am I supposed to get my husband? All the romantic gifts they advertise are not going to get an amazing response from the average male.
- If you don't have money during this holiday, it makes you feel bad because you should be spending money and doing something special.
Altogether it is just a lame holiday for retailers to make money and it really shouldn't have to exist. Can't couples just buy each other gifts and do romantic things from time to time because they are in love? Why does there have to be a holiday for this?
(Disclaimer: Scott has already purchased a gift for me for Valentine's Day. I have no idea what it is, but I am sure there will be a post about it. Just because I post later does not mean I endorse this ridiculous holiday. I still have to decide what to get for him...)

C.S. Lewis
If you are a reader and have not read anything by C.S. Lewis, you should. I haven't read a lot by him, but as a child I loved the cartoon movie, "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe". A few years ago someone(I don't recall who it was) bought me the entire collection of the Chronicles of Narnia. I read a couple of the books, and enjoyed them, but it was a time in my life I didn't think I had a lot of time for reading. Now that I have remembered how much I enjoy reading and I am constantly looking for a good book, I picked it back up to continue on. I love how there is always a deeper meaning to what he writes. You can read it for the shallow entertainment value, or you can get into the deeper thought and meaning behind it. It is one of those things that has the potential to make you really think about yourself and examine the kind of character you have. I have a few other books on my list for when I finish this one, but I definitely want to get more books by C.S. Lewis. He was a very profound writer.
