Family

Last week was a little bit crazy, a little bit hectic, and super busy, but it was a lot of fun. My brother and his family came in to town on the 27th we went over to visit that night. He headed down to St George with his wife on Sunday to play some golf (jealous) and then came back on Tuesday. My sister and her family came down on Monday night as well. The problem was Scott and I still have work and I still have school, so we had to juggle a little bit. Scott was supposed to have Wednesday off and I took Wednesday and Friday off. We actually had a tee time set for 9 am on Wednesday morning, but ended up not going because the weather was horrible. Who knew you had to worry about weather being good enough for golf on March 31st. But that is the spring we are having this year. So Scott went to work Saturday morning and I took care of a few things around the house and did homework.
The best part about Wednesday was I got to go to the temple with all of my siblings. It was really cool. It was the first time we have ever done that and I don't know how often it will happen in the future. Scott couldn't make it because of course his work schedule got in the way, but other than that it was a great experience and my sister and her husband were the witness couple.
Wednesday night we celebrated Tia's and Malachi's birthday super late, but Malachi wanted all of his cousins to be in town for it. It was crazy with all the kids sitting on the floor and Malachi wanting to play with each toy he opened, but it is always enjoyable to see all the cousins having fun together. It only happens every couple of years.
Thursday was a normal busy work day that I had to work because it was quarter end. I probably could have taken it off, but I would have regretted taking three days off in a row on Monday.
Anyway, so I took another day off on Friday and spent most of the day with my sister-in-law in Salt Lake. We went to the Salt Lake Temple. Neither of us had ever been to a live session before, and I loved it. It was such a great experience and even though it took up most of our day, I wouldn't have traded it. The live temple session had a special spirit to it. The spirit was so strong and it was a wonderful way to spend a few hours. After the temple we went over to the Joseph Smith Memorial and at The Garden. It was pretty good. Following our lunch it was getting late, but we had already decided to go to Tai Pan and I was really glad we went. I found more of those large golf balls that we have in front of our house for $2 each. Freakin awesome deal!
Friday afternoon/early evening we had family pictures, which I don't have any yet, so I can't post them, but it was 40 degrees and windy so it was kind of miserable, but I am really hoping we got a good picture. I am mostly looking forward to seeing pictures of Scott and I because we haven't really had any pictures done since we got married. I guess every couple of years is ok before you have kids right?
Friday night we at out all together, which of course was a little nuts, but it was fun. I was glad Scott was able to spend a little time with my family while they were in town. It was just a super bad week for him because of the time of year, but what can you do when you have to work? I went over to my parents house Saturday morning to hang out before my brother left for the air port and it was the first time all week all the adults sat around and just chatted. It was a rare opportunity and I savored every moment of it. It is hard living far away from some of your family, and spending time with them seems to make me miss them more. But it was great while it lasted!

Blue, Red & Golf

This weekend was another busy one, but a lot of fun. Our housework is being neglected, but that can be caught up on later. Friday morning while I was driving to work, I heard that Josh Blue was on town. So, Scott and I bought tickets and went to see him at the Wise Guys in West Valley. He was so freakin funny. I haven't seen very many comedians live, but of the comedians I have seen on TV and listened to CD's, he is definitely at the top of my list. He makes fun of the fact that he has cerebral palsy, which makes me think he is making the best of crappy situation, but he also has a bunch of other jokes that super funny as well. I seriously almost snorted at one point. If you ever get a chance to go see Josh Blue, take it. He was definitely worth the price of admission.
Saturday morning, I went and got my hair dyed again. It is pretty bright red. I love it. My family was a bit shocked by it. But I like it, and that is what matters. I am just hoping this red stays in a bit longer than the last red did. It sure better considering the price I paid for color saving shampoo and conditioner. I will post some pictures next weekend. Friday we are getting family pics and I am finally getting an updated picture of Scott and I. The color will be a week old by then, so I guess we will see how it looks in pictures at that point.
After the golf show I hurried to get groceries before Scott got home from work. When he got home, we headed to the golf show at the South Towne Expo Center. It was a little empty this year. I wonder if less people are going to those things because of the economy. We looked at some stuff there, then headed to Golf Galaxy to get some new grips, and Uinta Golf to browse. Scott managed to get a pair of golf shorts at Uinta Golf, so we were not successful at browsing, but oh well. I bought a bike last time we went to look at something I wanted.
Saturday night my brother came into town from Washington, so we spent the evening over at my parents house visiting with them. I am taking a couple of days off work this week to spend time with them and go to the temple a couple of times. We were all supposed to go golfing, but the weather is supposed to be cold and snowy on the day we had it planned. Guess we will wait and see. This week will be a busy one, but I anticipate it being a lot of fun.

A fun family weekend

This weekend was a really fun one. It was pretty laid back and it was super nice to spend time with Scott considering we didn't get to spend much together last week. How do you live with someone and feel like you never see them? But anyway, that is not really the point now is it?
I went to work with Scott on Friday night, right after I got off work he had to go load the trucks in Nephi. It was interesting. I thought I would just sit around and be bored, but be with him which is always better than sitting around bored at home by myself. I helped him by dictating from he load sheets to him. Not sure if it really made anything faster, but it kept me occupied.
Since Scott worked late on Friday night, he didn't have to work on Saturday morning which is rare these days, so it was really exciting to spend an entire Saturday together. It was a lot of fun. We ran some errands together and got some lunch. Then we had some free time so we went to go look at the bike we have been thinking about getting me since we got his last year and I couldn't keep up on my old heavy bike. Well, I have been wanting it for a long time and I decided if it was gone the next time we went, I would be upset, so we purchased it. I love it!
It is definitely me. We went for a ride on Sunday and it was awesome. I actually had a better time riding than Scott did and I didn't feel like I was pumping twice as hard to go half the speed.
Anyway, we got it home and then we still had some time before we had to be anywhere else, so we finally got put some giant golf balls I bought back in December and put them up in our front yard. It turned out really cute and we are super happy with it. Scott likes to drive by the front of the house any time we go anywhere so he can look at it.
Saturday night we went to Malachi's birthday party at pirate island. The decor is really fun and all of the servers are dressed as pirates or pirates wenches. They did a good job with the place. It was a really fun atmosphere. I thought the salad bar was pretty good, it is not too huge, but it was good. The pizza wasn't the greatest, but I pretty much love all pizza. Scott didn't love it. But it was fun for kid's birthday party. It was a good time. I don't think I will ever do a party like that for a 4 year old. I am more of a save money and come over to my house for a party, but who knows, we aren't there yet. We got pretty into the party ;)

Test #2

This weekend was an interesting one. I headed to school at 9am Saturday morning for an exam review, after the review I went through the practice exam and went to take the exam. I didn't get home until 3:30. It felt like such a waste of a day, but at least I got a 93% on the exam. I was in the 80's last test. I guess it was worth it, but with daylight savings and spending most of my Saturday at school, I kind of feel like I was robbed of my weekend. We still had to get groceries after I got home from school, so our Saturday wasn't a lot of play, and the snow didn't help... At least next weekend we don't have any plans... Looking forward to it! I didn't get enough time with Scott this weekend!

New Ward

We went to our new ward on Sunday. We get to go again in another couple of days. It was MUCH MUCH smaller, which I have mixed feelings about. I loved having a huge ward and soooo many kids everywhere. Now, since we are some of a few people being added to this existing ward, we are outsiders. It feels just like I thought it would. A bunch of us that got moved sat together in the back corner. We only talked to the people we knew and we were definitely not feeling like part of the ward. We only had sacrament meeting and they told us the schedule for next week, since RS and Priesthood are first and stuff, but they didn't tell us where Priesthood meets or where Sunday School is held. So for those of us who are new to the ward, we have no idea. Of course 75% of the ward already knows, so I guess no need to worry about us newbies. Nice huh? Can't wait for the confusion come Sunday. At least RS has a designated room. But what about Scott? He is just going to wander the church until he finds the right room with four wards meeting in the building? He is likely to stumble across the wrong ward. Anyway, I am really hoping it gets better, because at this point, I not very optimistic and I don't want to go to this ward. I just want to go back to our old one, where we felt comfortable. I loved that ward. Soo sad.

Jazz Game

I have no idea how I go so long without blogging. I guess it just isn't a priority most of the time. Anyway, last weekend my sister and her family were in town for our niece Chrystal to do a dance for the pre-show for the Jazz game. The dance was really cute. And I'm sure it was really fun for her to be able to do.
This is Chrystal, the one that danced. She is only 10, but looks much older with all that make-up.

The whole night was a lot of fun. It is always a good time to have the family in town and for Scott and I to hang out with the kids. Even though Ashley didn't want to sit on my lap, it was fun to watch her. She was glued to the game and would clap when everyone else clapped and she was just super cute enjoying the game she knew very little about.Ashley having a good time. I don't even remember what she is pointing at.

My mom and a couple of her grand daughters. Doesn't she look good? My mom has lost like 30 lbs in the past few months. I think a little more than that. I think she looks fantastic. Just a side note.

New Ward

Well, our ward was split yesterday. I can't say I am thrilled about the results. Basically, they started with 2 wards, the 4th and the 21st. We were in the 21st. They took half of the 21st and half of the 4th and created a new ward. Pretty normal right? But then, they made a little jog in the map that included our town homes, and we were moved from the 21st ward to the 4th. So we won't be in the ward we are familiar with, we won't be in a ward that is half and half, we are now in a ward that was mostly already existing with a few of us thrown in.
I was upset about that, but I was fine. Then the bishops got up and spoke. One old bishop, two new bishops, and our old bishop who will remain the bishop of the 21st ward spoke. He is a fantastic bishop. One of the best I have ever had. He was bishop of a ward of over 700 people and knew us all by name. He truly loves the members of his ward. I lost it when he got up and spoke. I had no idea I would cry like that, but I did. Anyone who knows me knows I am emotional, but this was just ridiculous. It did make me feel better that when we got home Scott told me he feels the same way about losing the bishop, but still, I felt like an idiot bawling in front of that many people.
Anyway, I know it is for the best, I know that the stake presidency didn't sit down and draw lines randomly without consulting with our Heavenly Father, and I know He knows what is best for us, but I will miss my old ward. Even though we weren't that social in that ward, we loved a lot of the children, and the people were familiar. We will just have to have faith and know that eventually the new ward will be just as good and will help us grow.
