Boring

Recently I have decided my life is VERY boring and extremely predictable. My week goes like this:

Monday Thru Friday

• Get up between 6 and 6:30, shower and get myself semi decent, get my snacks ready for work, get Taylor ready, drop her off at the baby sitter and go to work.
• Work 8-5, with the exemption of my lunch break that usually consists of running errands. After work, if Scott hasn't picked her up, pick up Taylor and make it home by 6.
• Fix dinner if Scott is hungry or find something for me to eat if he is not.
• Play with Taylor and then feed her dinner at 7 and give her a bath if it is bath night.
• Give Taylor a bottle and get her to between 8 and 8: 30.
• By 8:30 I am spent, so I clean a few things up and then drop into bed and cuddle with hubby and watch TV for a little while.
• Wake up at least once a night and feed Taylor again and sometimes wake up a couple more times with her.
• Repeat

Saturday & Sunday

• Get up when Taylor does
• If I am lucky, take a nap when Taylor takes her morning nap, if I am not, clean the house or take care of things that didn't get done during the week
• Get groceries
• Get lunch
• Run errands
• Play with Taylor
• Spend time with one of our families
• Church if we don't sleep through it or miss it because we didn't realize it is Stake Conference.
• Spend as much time as a family as possible

Then the week starts over and we do it all again. I would really like to add in a workout, but I just don't know where I would get the time or energy to do it. This week I have told Scott twice that I want to work out and didn't end up happening. I guess running around the house for 2 hours between getting home and Taylor going to bed has to count for something right?
The weird thing about this is I am not even complaining. I am actually pretty happy these days. We are still struggling with sleep, so I have bad days, but I am pretty content with how my life goes. I just wish there was more time in the day so I could get more done, or do something exciting to change up the routine. I am excited for the upcoming holidays to change things up a bit, and I am really excited that some day (not as near in the future as I would like) I will get to stay home and be a mom and I can decide what we are going to do that day and not be a work drone. But...with that being said, life is good, and I have a lot of blessings to be grateful for. I get to spend time with my adorable daughter and fantastic husband every night and every weekend and right now I couldn't ask for more than that.

Demo Derby 2011

We have started a little tradition of going to the demolition derby in Nephi every year. This year was a little bit crazy. Right after the first heat, a big storm came in. The wind was blowing so hard there was dust everywhere and there was no way we would have seen the cars running into each other if they had been going. Then they called announced that the Fire Marshall had declared an emergency and because of the lightning we all needed to get out of the bleachers for at least 1/2 hour. So we all went and sat in our cars for a while. The storm sort of past and we all went back out. I think some people left, and it was chilly, but this derby was awesome. This was the first time Scott or I had seen a car get completely flipped over, and it happened TWICE! I had forgotten my camera, but my sister took this pic on her phone:

This was the second time. The car on bottom actually had a fire and that is why the firetruck is there. We left right after the grudge match because it was getting late and we needed to get Taylor home. She was sleeping soundly at her grandparents house. I was soooo glad we didn't take her to the derby to be out in the crazy weather. We had a good time overall I think. When the wind wasn't blowing and it wasn't rainy, it wasn't too bad.

18 Holes

Saturday Scott and I were able to play 18 holes of golf together for the first time this year. Scott's parents are sweet enough to watch Taylor for us every Saturday. We usually do grocery shopping and some errands, but this time they offered to watch her long enough for us to play golf. It was kind of a rough night with Taylor, but we were able to get out the door shortly after 8 and get out before it was too crowded on the course. I started out pretty well, then got really crappy for a while. At about hole 15, I pulled it together and felt pretty good about how I played the last few holes. Considering this is the third time I have played this year, and the two other times I only played nine holes, I think it went pretty well. It was so nice to get out in the sun and not have to worry about a little one.
We played the front nine pretty quickly, but when we got to the tenth tee they had sent some people out on number ten that were pretty slow. It took us and 1:45 to play the front nine and 2:45 to play the back nine. At the eighteenth tee while we were waiting for the group in front of us, mr. tough guy in front of us came back to tell us that there were people in front of them and hitting into them wouldn't do us any good. Scott asked him when we hit into him, and he said we didn't. Scott and I were boggled and more than slightly annoyed. We had waited for them and waited for them, and then he comes back and acts like a jerk? Really? Wow. The marshall had to ask them to speed up around hole 16 and they actually did, but they were SOOOO slow. I did accidentally hit into them on one hole because my aim sucks, but he went from me looking like a jerk to making himself look like one. Good times. Gotta love people.

Good Weekend

This last weekend was fantastic. On Friday night we had my work Christmas Party, something I look forward to every year. Scott is always a good sport and lets me drag him along. This year for the entertainment we played "Let's Make a Deal". If you haven't seen the show, they give you three options to choose from, in this case wrapped gifts, and then they also offer to buy the gift from you before you know what it is. We played by table, and it was a ton of fun. I think the best parties are the ones that everyone gets to participate and the entertainment is interactive. They also went around to random tables and gave out money for random things. I went home with $100 for my prize, $100 for being pregnant (they gave $100 to every pregnant woman in the room), and $20 for having 27 cents exactly in my purse. Not a bad night. I am constantly amazed at the generosity of the company I work for. One of the prizes was $2000 for a cruise, and 5 people won it. The rest of the prizes were less, but still good value. It is amazing to me to work for a company that does those sorts of things for their employees. Not to mention the really nice Christmas bonus we always get in time to help with the Christmas shopping. It is really fantastic to work for a company that values their employees so much, and is willing to show it.
Saturday we went to see Rodney Carrington in Wendover. He was super funny, and I was glad we were able to go. His tickets sell out pretty quick, and we had been trying to go for a couple of years. He can be a little dirty, but most of his stuff is just really funny and true. Before the concert I spent some of my Christmas party cash and played roulette for the first time. I did pretty well for a while, but ended up losing it all. It was for entertainment and I played for a good half hour or 45 minutes on $20. After the concert we headed back to our hotel to see how we did on slot machines. I lost another $100, which is fine, because that was what I planned to spend on gambling, and I was done. None of the machines that usually paid out for me were working this time. Scott hadn't played at all, but decided to take some money out of our savings and play some as well. He lost $100 and we were pretty much just wandering around trying to find something to play and we walked up to a random bank of machines and he put the entire $100 into a penny machine. I was a little surprised by that. He got up to around $175, which is where I would have cashed out, but he kept playing. It was hard to to tell how much money you had because it was just showing credits and not dollars. He changed it to nickel play rather than penny play and 5 or 6 rolls later, he won something. We weren't sure what. It showed two treasure chests on the left side of the screen and then a picture saying he won on the right, then the whole screen covered in gold coins, and some pictures saying he won extra spins and just a bunch of stuff while we sat there trying to figure out what was going on. Once it finished, Scott has over 32000 credits and we couldn't do the math really quick so he cashed out. He had hit a $1590 jack pot! We were both a little shocked. The max bet was 300 nickels, which means he bet $15 and won $1590 on one roll! It was awesome. The attendant had to come pay him and that was the only time we drew attention to ourselves. We were both just kind of in awe. It was really exciting.
Scott payed cash for our hotel room, and then put the $200 back into savings that he had taken out, and then we bought a PlayStation 3, a couple of games, and the Move bundle. He still has some extra cash, and I know he wants to buy a golf club with, but I really don't know what he will do with the rest of it. It was all just very exciting and we are glad to have a little bit of play money! What a great weekend!

Colorado Anniversary Trip

Oh, where to start. I was really excited to get to go out of town for our anniversary this year, and we used our vacation rental and stayed in Breckenridge Colorado. We headed out on Saturday Oct 23rd early in the morning (because that is when Scott likes to drive) and headed there. The roads were fine most of the way, except for the Vail Pass. It was snowy, but not horrible. Anywhoo, we go there Saturday right around noon and checked in and then hit main street for some lunch. We had some yummy pizza at The Pizza Parlour. Yes, that is what it was called. We noticed a lot of things out there were called exactly what they were. Self-explanatory. We wandered up main street for a little while, but it was pretty chilly, so we hit the grocery store then we headed back up to our condo for the evening.

Sadly, that night, I got really really sick. I couldn't sleep because I felt awful and then I started throwing up. EVERYTHING. I threw up all night long and all day Sunday. Also, Sunday is when the snow started. We headed down to town and got  me some chicken noodle soup and some bread, but I couldn't even keep that stuff down. It was pretty awful. No water, no sprite, no nothing. It was a fantastic way to start our vacation. Sunday night I was able to sleep, but I still threw up Monday morning after breakfast. I did keep more food down that day though. However, we were pretty much snowed in. There was a good 8 inches of snow. We could leave, but we had my car and it is not the most amazing snow vehicle. It works great for me, but not in a lot of snow up in the mountains. So we only left once all day Monday to get some food for Scott.

Tuesday was our actual anniversary and we spent most of the day in the condo, but we did go down to town for lunch, and we did go down for a nice anniversary dinner. I threw up every day of vacation, but I was eating normally Tuesday. We ate at this place called The Dredge. It is a dredge replica of a dredge that had actually sunk and was in the water right below it. I thought that was kind of cool. I tried to get some good pictures...

Anyway, Wednesday we were finally able to get down out of Breckenridge and make our day down to Denver, Colorado Springs, Castle Rock, and Manitou Springs. We tried to fit in as much as we could between Wednesday and Friday, since we headed back home on Saturday. To spare you the boring details, and partly because I don't remember exactly what we did each day, here is a brief synopsis and pictures:

•  Went to visit the Miramount Castle. We found it by looking for tourist attractions on our GPS. It was really interesting to see and read about the history of it and we were glad we were able to go. We found out that it is haunted at the end of the tour talking to the lady in the gift shop.
• Did some shopping at the outlets in Castle Rock, probably the biggest outlets I have ever been to.
• Went to the King Tut exhibit at the Denver Museum of Art. It was interesting, but slightly disappointing. We were hoping to be able to see more of what was found and what King Tut was actually wearing or was buried in.
• Went to a comedy club called Impulse Theatre, which is similar to Comedy Sportz here in Utah. We ended up in the front row, which was a little close for me, but it was a good time.
• Visited Old Colorado City. Interesting, but probably not as impressive as it once was. There weren't a lot of stores that sold anything we were super interested in, and it seemed like a lot of them were foreign. Oh well, it was a nice walk.
• Ate dinner at a cool restaurant called Casa Bonita. The food was average, but they have a waterfall right in the middle and have little shows and divers. They also had a little mariachi band that went around and played for people. It was really cool, and I would definitely go back.

• Ate a restaurant called Old Chicago, which was very tasty. I had one of the best BBQ chicken salads I had ever had and Scott loved the garlic cheese bread. They are all over out there, and we would love to eat there again.
• Friday night we went on "Banjo Billy's Ghost Tour" of Denver. I enjoyed it. Scott would have rather been able to go into the buildings and explore closer up, but I enjoyed staying on the bus and just hearing the stories of the buildings we were in front of. I get freaked out way to easy. We were on a bus that was totally redone and had a sofa in the back that we sat on and all kinds of random seating. A really fun environment.
• Visited the Helen Hunt Waterfall. It was not super impressive compared to some of the other waterfalls we have seen, but not too bad. We hiked up past the waterfall to see another waterfall, but really what was amazing at the top were the views, not the waterfall.
• Went to Buffalo Bill's grave and museum. It was really interesting to read about him and see where they buried him. He requested to be buried there, and it is an amazing view of Denver. I dressed up and got on a fake horse at the museum. It was really fun. Also, they had a book showing where Buffalo Bill's group toured and it had a picture of the cast in front of the Salt Lake Temple. That was fun to see.

That was about it. I may have forgot something here and there, but those were the main parts. It was a good trip towards the end, and we would like to go back and be able to see and do more. It was just nice to have the week off and have neither of us working. We definitely needed it. Just wish I hadn't been sick. Would have made things much more enjoyable.

We're going to watch cars crash!

One of my very favorite parts of the summer is going to the Demolition Derby in Nephi every year. Scott went one year without me, and we have been going together for the past 3 years. It is so much fun to watch the cars crash into each other like I have wanted to so many times on the freeway with my road rage. My sister, her boyfriend, and her adorable son came with us this year. It was great to have them there, and Malachi loved it. He sat on Scott's lap almost the entire time. It is so sweet to see their relationship. For the few minutes he wasn't sitting on Scott's lap, I did get him to sit with me, but it didn't last very long. We love that kid so much. Here are a few pictures of the fun:

My First Tournament

I never thought I would be good enough to play in a golf tournament, but it turns out you don't really have to be if you are playing for fun and to support a charity. Scott and other vendors were invited to play in the Walmart golf tournament for Children's Miracle Network. His team fell apart the Friday before, so he invited me to come along. The other guy we were playing with invited his wife as well. It was a really fun day. It was scramble format and we shot -11. Scott played in a tournament the day before with a guy that was similar to him in skill level and shot -13 to win. So -11 with a scratch golfer, an average golfer and their wives is pretty dang good. We didn't come close to winning because at this particular tournament you can buy mulligans (re-do's). We didn't use any. I played really well. I got my first birdie! I have had some pars and even an eagle, but this was my first birdie and I was pretty excited about it. In scramble format everyone hits the ball off the tee box and then everyone plays the ball in the best position after that. I got my birdie on a par 3. I hit it off the tee and came within 4 feet of the hole and then I went down and had the first putt so it really was a hole I basically played alone and got us the birdie on. It was awesome. I had some really good shots elsewhere as well. It is so much easier to play golf and be relaxed when you don't have as much pressure on each shot to make your next one playable. Scott played better than I have ever seen him play. He was really on his game and I think alone he would have shot under 70 on that course. He was making putts and hitting approach shots like you wouldn't believe. It was amazing. I think we were all relaxed because we went out there expecting not to win or even come close, we but actually made a pretty good run at it. I was pretty upset with myself because on the women's long drive hole, I let myself get too concerned about winning it and I put the ball in the water. I didn't even hit it as well as I was on other holes. I drive the ball a long ways. Usually around 200 yards. I had one drive that was 232, but I have NO head game. I just let the pressure of trying to win my prize psych me out of having a chance at it. Bummer. We had a good time anyway, and it was for charity, so we can't really feel bad about the money we spent and walking away without a prize.


It was such a great day and I was so happy I was able to go and spend the entire day with my awesome husband and watch him play amazing golf and be able to just have an all around great day with him. So glad my wonderful co-worker offered to work all day so I could do it.

"Team Building"

For a couple of years, my boss has been talking about getting together as a department and doing something fun. He finally pinned down a date about a month ago and this weekend was the big hoopla. It was a lot of fun. Friday afternoon we went golfing as a department. The department really consists of two young girls just starting marriages and 3 middle aged men (I hope that isn't rude to say). Anyway, my boss also invited the CFO and they both brought their sons. I know not everyone enjoys golf as much as I do or as much as my boss does, but I had a really good time, and I beat everyone in my group. That always makes you feel good when usually I have the worst score. But considering I play with a scratch golfer most of the time, that is not surprising.
Anyway, Saturday night we had a BBQ at my boss' house. We were able to bring our spouses with us, and it turned out to be a lot of fun. It was great to get to spend some time with the people I work with in a social setting rather than a work setting. I really enjoyed hearing stories of what things were like for them years ago and a little more about what their temperaments are like. We had little starters before dinner and some nice conversation and then my boss grilled chicken and ribs and then we had dessert after. It was super tasty. I was so glad we were able to do the whole thing. I thought it might be awkward, but it was fantastic. I think even Scott enjoyed himself. He was extremely entertained by one of my co-workers. I hope we get to do it again!

Baby Shower

The Thursday before we went on vacation, I threw a baby shower for a friend at work. I did it on the same day as a wedding I did, which wasn't the smartest, but I spent the entire day baking and designing flowers. It was a crazy hectic and busy day, and I left the house a complete mess and then right after the shower I went to work at Frito Lay. Scott was amazing and got home late as well, but he cleaned up a lot of my mess. It was super sweet and unexpected. He is super awesome like that. Anyway, here are pictures of some of the things I did for the shower. It was a lot of fun, and I was pretty happy with how everything turned out. This is the invitation.

This was my first try at fondant. I used marshmallow fondant, and it was super eay to make, but it was kind of hard to get on the cake. The cake was super good though. It was almond with raspberry filling. Super tasty. It may not look amazing, but it was tasty. I also made Oreo cake bits and sugar cookies, but I guess I didn't get pictures of those...darn.

Gymnastics Olympics

This last weekend Scott and I went up to good ole' Rexburg,Idaho for our niece's gymnastic "Olympics". It was a good trip. Brittney did so good, she is 8, and just started doing gymnastics this year, and she was the best in her group. She was probably the oldest in her group as well, but she was the only one that knew the mat routine without any help from her teacher. I was so glad we went to support her. I know she was really happy Scott could make it. I'm pretty sure she has a little crush on him, but that is ok with me. Here are a few of the pictures I got:

I guess I might be a little excited about her doing well because I quit gymnastics because I couldn't do a cartwheel. I still can't do a cartwheel, so I guess that kind of thing is just not for me. I will stick to running.

Anyway, I was loading for the HCG diet over the weekend as well. I got lunch on Saturday at New York Burrito. I had been craving it for a long time. I used to have it for lunch a lot, but sadly, they closed the one in Orem. I was really excited to have it again. The loading part of the diet is always really fun. Eating anything and everything that isn't good for me. Lots of ice cream. I am on day 5 now. So day three of the restrictive diet. Only 18 more days to go!

Family

Last week was a little bit crazy, a little bit hectic, and super busy, but it was a lot of fun. My brother and his family came in to town on the 27th we went over to visit that night. He headed down to St George with his wife on Sunday to play some golf (jealous) and then came back on Tuesday. My sister and her family came down on Monday night as well. The problem was Scott and I still have work and I still have school, so we had to juggle a little bit. Scott was supposed to have Wednesday off and I took Wednesday and Friday off. We actually had a tee time set for 9 am on Wednesday morning, but ended up not going because the weather was horrible. Who knew you had to worry about weather being good enough for golf on March 31st. But that is the spring we are having this year. So Scott went to work Saturday morning and I took care of a few things around the house and did homework.
The best part about Wednesday was I got to go to the temple with all of my siblings. It was really cool. It was the first time we have ever done that and I don't know how often it will happen in the future. Scott couldn't make it because of course his work schedule got in the way, but other than that it was a great experience and my sister and her husband were the witness couple.
Wednesday night we celebrated Tia's and Malachi's birthday super late, but Malachi wanted all of his cousins to be in town for it. It was crazy with all the kids sitting on the floor and Malachi wanting to play with each toy he opened, but it is always enjoyable to see all the cousins having fun together. It only happens every couple of years.
Thursday was a normal busy work day that I had to work because it was quarter end. I probably could have taken it off, but I would have regretted taking three days off in a row on Monday.
Anyway, so I took another day off on Friday and spent most of the day with my sister-in-law in Salt Lake. We went to the Salt Lake Temple. Neither of us had ever been to a live session before, and I loved it. It was such a great experience and even though it took up most of our day, I wouldn't have traded it. The live temple session had a special spirit to it. The spirit was so strong and it was a wonderful way to spend a few hours. After the temple we went over to the Joseph Smith Memorial and at The Garden. It was pretty good. Following our lunch it was getting late, but we had already decided to go to Tai Pan and I was really glad we went. I found more of those large golf balls that we have in front of our house for $2 each. Freakin awesome deal!
Friday afternoon/early evening we had family pictures, which I don't have any yet, so I can't post them, but it was 40 degrees and windy so it was kind of miserable, but I am really hoping we got a good picture. I am mostly looking forward to seeing pictures of Scott and I because we haven't really had any pictures done since we got married. I guess every couple of years is ok before you have kids right?
Friday night we at out all together, which of course was a little nuts, but it was fun. I was glad Scott was able to spend a little time with my family while they were in town. It was just a super bad week for him because of the time of year, but what can you do when you have to work? I went over to my parents house Saturday morning to hang out before my brother left for the air port and it was the first time all week all the adults sat around and just chatted. It was a rare opportunity and I savored every moment of it. It is hard living far away from some of your family, and spending time with them seems to make me miss them more. But it was great while it lasted!

Blue, Red & Golf

This weekend was another busy one, but a lot of fun. Our housework is being neglected, but that can be caught up on later. Friday morning while I was driving to work, I heard that Josh Blue was on town. So, Scott and I bought tickets and went to see him at the Wise Guys in West Valley. He was so freakin funny. I haven't seen very many comedians live, but of the comedians I have seen on TV and listened to CD's, he is definitely at the top of my list. He makes fun of the fact that he has cerebral palsy, which makes me think he is making the best of crappy situation, but he also has a bunch of other jokes that super funny as well. I seriously almost snorted at one point. If you ever get a chance to go see Josh Blue, take it. He was definitely worth the price of admission.
Saturday morning, I went and got my hair dyed again. It is pretty bright red. I love it. My family was a bit shocked by it. But I like it, and that is what matters. I am just hoping this red stays in a bit longer than the last red did. It sure better considering the price I paid for color saving shampoo and conditioner. I will post some pictures next weekend. Friday we are getting family pics and I am finally getting an updated picture of Scott and I. The color will be a week old by then, so I guess we will see how it looks in pictures at that point.
After the golf show I hurried to get groceries before Scott got home from work. When he got home, we headed to the golf show at the South Towne Expo Center. It was a little empty this year. I wonder if less people are going to those things because of the economy. We looked at some stuff there, then headed to Golf Galaxy to get some new grips, and Uinta Golf to browse. Scott managed to get a pair of golf shorts at Uinta Golf, so we were not successful at browsing, but oh well. I bought a bike last time we went to look at something I wanted.
Saturday night my brother came into town from Washington, so we spent the evening over at my parents house visiting with them. I am taking a couple of days off work this week to spend time with them and go to the temple a couple of times. We were all supposed to go golfing, but the weather is supposed to be cold and snowy on the day we had it planned. Guess we will wait and see. This week will be a busy one, but I anticipate it being a lot of fun.
